"Kimberly-Clark is constantly searching for alternative energy solutions that make sense environmentally and economically," said Suhas Apte, vice president, Global Sustainability, Kimberly-Clark. "Purchasing RECs for our Dallas headquarters demonstrates another step in our commitment to avoiding greenhouse gas emissions, supporting renewable energy technologies, and contributing to a clean energy future." Earlier this month, Kimberly-Clark launched its Sustainability 2015 Goals.

"By purchasing RECs, Kimberly-Clark is greening its energy use and supporting the operation and development of renewable energy facilities," said Michael D. Smith, senior vice president of green initiatives for Constellation Energy's retail business. "Moreover, RECs are a cost-effective option for businesses to help meet their environmental goals."

RECs from Constellation Energy can be purchased as part of a broader energy supply agreement, including electricity and gas supply.

The RECs supplied to Kimberly-Clark by Constellation Energy are Green-e® Energy Certified and sourced from wind energy facilities in Texas. One REC is created for each megawatt-hour of renewable power that is delivered to the electric grid. Once a REC is sold, it is retired, ensuring that each REC is only used one time.
