Kimberly-Clark Named by Fortune Magazine to List of 100 Best Companies to Work For DALLAS, January 25, 2002 - Kimberly-Clark Corporation, (NYSE: KMB) home of Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Kotex, Depend and other well-known brands, has been selected by Fortune Magazine and the Great Places to Work Institute as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For.
"We're extremely pleased to receive this honor," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Wayne R. Sanders. "Our culture is based upon teamwork, trust and respect. Being named to this select list of companies is a tribute to the thousands of Kimberly-Clark employees who work every day to make this kind of a distinction possible."
This year more than 1,000 companies initially applied to be considered for this honor. After an interim evaluation, 279 companies were left to compete for the top 100.
Together with the Great Places to Work Institute, Fortune evaluated Kimberly-Clark's human resources and benefits practices, work environment, diversity initiatives, corporate culture and other programs and activities. Ratings from those evaluations were then combined with results from a confidential survey measuring workplace culture. That survey was sent to 250 randomly selected Kimberly-Clark employees and accounted for two-thirds of the company's final ratings.
Kimberly-Clark was selected for the list, in part, because of its commitment to employee recognition. Each year, Kimberly-Clark invests more than $6 million to celebrate employee successes.
In addition to being named to Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For list this year, Kimberly-Clark has been on Fortune's list of "America's Most Admired Corporations" since 1983. Kimberly-Clark Europe, YuHan-Kimberly in Korea, Kimberly-Clark Thailand and Kimberly-Clark Australia also have been recognized as top employers on local or regional lists in recent years.
Kimberly-Clark is a leading global manufacturer of tissue, personal care and health care products with manufacturing facilities in 41 countries and product sales in more than 150. Employing more than 64,000 people worldwide, Kimberly-Clark posted sales of $14.5 billion in 2001. Nearly one-fourth of the world's population, or 1.3 billion people, use Kimberly-Clark products each year.
